The dbx 286S is the ideal solution for preamplification and microphonic source processing in live, broadcast or studio applications. It is the successor of the very popular dbx 286A. With a new design of its front panel and a new electronic integrating the latest components, it offers the same outstanding sound character and reliability as its predecessor.
The 286S is a studio-grade micro preamplifier, incorporating 4 processors that can be combined or used independently. It has a high amplitude input gain control, a switchable phantom power supply and a high-pass filter to 80 Hz to remove snorkels and wind noises.
The integrated compressor uses the patented dbx OverEasy process, which offers a unique and transparent treatment to balance the level of acoustic instruments or to position a voice in the foreground.
High frequency whistling and distortions will be eliminated by the de-esser.
The Enhancer HF control allows to add shine or detail to the signal while the LF control increases the density and depth of voices and serious instruments.
The separate threshold setting and compression ratio of the integrated Expander/Gate allows a subtle adjustment of the treatment to remove, for example, the resumption of the headphones when taking the studio, or the radical cut of a guitar amplifier sound a little too loud.
The dbx 286S delivers in a single device all the treatments adapted to the sound socket. It is the most elegant way to keep a route from the signal as clean as possible, without using other external equipment, for a high-quality sound socket.
