The HS-8 is the first professional Tascam solution, oriented multitrack recording/reading in the studio, based on a CF card recording support. From the surround recording in the studio to the post-production or broadcast of recordings captured on site by a portable recorder Tascam HS-P82, this 8-track recorder performs very varied tasks. The HS-8 manages the SMPTE timecode and offers all connections requested by professionals, including serial control at RS-422. Another constant at Tascam, the audio quality: the HS-8 is at the end-to-end height, and even allows high-resolution recording, 192 kHz / 24 bits.

The HS-8 integrates a mixer for listening; this internal premix can be recorded on the fly, in the form of a separate stereo track. The device has a user interface based on a colour touch screen, ensuring easy access to parameters and tracks. The audio files are created on CompactFlash card – a recording support for its high reliability – in Broadcast WAV format. Since the HS-8 has two CF card ports, you can record in mirror or relay (with future update). A remote is available as an option (RC-HS20PD): it is equipped with keys ensuring instant playback from a remote location via a RJ-45 link.
