RME M-32 AD Pro II – The reference 32-channel analog-to-digital converter for professional audio infrastructures

The RME M-32 AD Pro II is a high-end 32-channel analog-to-digital (AD) converter designed to meet the demanding requirements of professional recording studios, immersive audio installations, broadcast facilities, sound reinforcement systems and network-based audio infrastructures. As the successor to the first-generation M-32 Pro, this new Pro II version benefits from fully optimized electronics, an ultra-precise fully balanced analog architecture, next-generation AVB network connectivity and RME's exclusive technologies, ensuring outstanding stability and audio transparency. Developed to operate at the heart of mission-critical environments, it provides a professional conversion solution capable of integrating into the most ambitious installations.

The M-32 AD Pro II provides simultaneous conversion of 32 analog inputs into MADI and AVB digital formats at sampling rates up to 192 kHz. Its fully balanced architecture, combined with state-of-the-art 24-bit converters, delivers a dynamic range of up to 120 dB(A), extremely low distortion and highly accurate reproduction of analog signals. Each channel can be individually configured with multiple reference levels (+13, +19 or +24 dBu), ensuring optimal compatibility with studio equipment, broadcast consoles, external processors and professional audio systems complying with SMPTE recommendations.

Designed for modern audio infrastructures, the M-32 AD Pro II combines multiple professional protocols within a single 19-inch chassis. It features 32 analog inputs on D-Sub 25 connectors, coaxial MADI and optical MADI interfaces (via optional SFP module), a Gigabit Ethernet AVB interface with two redundant network ports, Word Clock I/O, a USB port dedicated to remote control and firmware updates, as well as a MIDI interface for installations still relying on this protocol. This extremely comprehensive connectivity makes it easy to integrate into production studios, complex audio networks and large-scale permanent installations.

Native support for the AVB (Audio Video Bridging) protocol, compliant with IEEE 802.1 and 1722.1 standards, allows the 32 audio channels to be transmitted through a single Ethernet cable while ensuring reserved bandwidth, highly accurate time synchronization and precisely controlled latency. Thanks to its two fully redundant network interfaces, based on MILAN™ recommendations, the M-32 AD Pro II can be easily integrated into particularly complex distributed architectures while providing the operational continuity required for critical applications.

The MADI protocol, for which RME is one of the leading historical contributors, also remains at the heart of the converter's architecture. The coaxial and optical MADI interfaces allow transmission of up to 128 audio channels with proven reliability in live sound, broadcast, touring and professional studio environments. The MADI Auto Input function, together with SyncCheck® and ICC® (Intelligent Clock Control) technologies, continuously monitors available clock sources to ensure automatic synchronization and maintain system stability even in the event of a reference clock failure.

The entire internal signal management is handled by a powerful single-channel routing matrix allowing each signal to be individually assigned between analog inputs, MADI interfaces and the AVB network. This architecture provides exceptional flexibility for creating custom configurations, signal distribution, redundant systems or complex production infrastructures. The M-32 AD Pro II can be controlled directly from the front panel using its 2-inch color display and multifunction encoder, or remotely via USB, HTTP, JSON API, IEEE 1722.1 ATDECC or MIDI SysEx commands, making integration into professional monitoring systems straightforward.

Particularly suited for permanent installations, the M-32 AD Pro II features tri-color backlit channel indicators providing instant visibility of activity and signal levels across all 32 channels. Customizable labels protected by a magnetic cover make connection identification easier in technical racks and complex control rooms. The unit also includes fifteen configuration presets, a dark mode, secure parameter locking and a user interface designed to provide both quick operation and extremely precise control.

Built for continuous operation over many years, the RME M-32 AD Pro II features two fully redundant internal power supplies, highly robust electronics and RME's renowned long-term firmware support, regularly adding new features through updates. Thanks to its reference-level audio performance, extensive MADI and AVB compatibility, scalable network architecture and exceptional reliability, the M-32 AD Pro II stands today as one of the most advanced solutions for professional analog-to-digital conversion in studios, broadcast systems, immersive installations and the most demanding IP audio infrastructures.
