With the Babyface Pro FS, RME once again demonstrates its technical expertise, not only through the excellence of its audio and driver circuits, but also its manufacturing quality. Sculpted with high precision in an aluminium block, this portable high-end interface incorporates a new design redesigned from its analog and digital circuits. Its energy saving technologies deliver uncompromising audio fidelity, noise or distortion.
For main output inputs, RME designed a new XLR connector that naturally integrates into the housing while preserving space. Both headphone outputs, offering both a symmetrical jack and mini-jack, can accept low or high impedance helmets, for an exceptional sound result whatever the type of helmet used. The user interface is intelligently informative and clearly arranged. It allows easy access to all the features and modes of Babyface Pro. Even in autonomous mode, the routing and direct mixing of inputs to outputs opens wide possibilities for application.
Both Babyface Pro FS preamplifiers are digitally controlled and individually equipped with a 48V ghost power supply. These new circuits offer a gain range of 71 dB in 3dB steps, with an attenuator, allowing to achieve an exceptional EIN performance (Equivalent Input Noise), while maintaining enough gain for the lowest microphone levels. The latest generation AN/NA converters and ultra low latency, combined with the improved SteadyClock III technology, give exceptional specifications that will satisfy the most demanding professionals.
The super efficient design of the Babyface Pro normally does not require external power and is perfectly stable with the power supply of the USB 3 or USB 2 bus, without degradation of the technical specifications. This makes it particularly ideal for mobile recording, even with a pair of static microphones. Other features include TOSLINK I/O optical inputs/outputs, for ADAT (SMUX) or SPDIF applications, for sessions up to 192 kHz.
Connected to an external ADAT converter, the Babyface Pro FS perfectly manages the 12 analog inputs and 12 outputs, facilitating its use in live or multipiste settings in the studio. It is possible to connect any type of instrument to the line level or impedance to the 3 and 4 jack inputs. Record your guitar on the move, without needing any other material. MIDI inputs/outputs are offered via an included spanoui cable.
The Babyface Pro comes with TotalMix FX RME, available on Windows, Mac OS X and on iOS via an option. This ultra versatile software allows you to solve a large number of recording or mixing situations. The FPGA-based DSP mixer adds a 3-band parametric patch to inputs and outputs. A reverberation and a delay are also available.
Combining an impressive number of features with exceptional sound quality and intuitive control, the Babyface Pro FS is the most versatile and compact audio interface ever built for nomadic or studio use.
In 2019, RME Audio changes its 24-bit / 192-kHz Babyface Pro USB digital audio interface by including a new SteadyClock FS clock circuit, adding a level switch and reducing latency.

Bravo !
