A classic to the taste of the day

Introduced in 1972 as successor to the legendary U 47 tube version, the FET version became a full-fledged classic. Its smooth but defined character shaped the sound of the 1970s.

The U 47 FET uses the famous K 47 wide membrane capsule and the same design as its predecessor, which revolutionized the recording and broadcast industry between 1949 and 1960. The FET version uses a transistor amplification circuit, an advanced functionality that meets the high engineering quality requirement of Neumann.

For large volumes

The U 47 FET can withstand extreme acoustic pressure up to 137 dB, and 147 dB with the activated pad -10 dB. All this while maintaining the softness of the top of the spectrum and the richness of the medium frequencies.

This allows the microphone to be used with very noisy sources such as coppers or electric guitars. Thanks to its clear and deep retransmission of low frequencies, it is also an excellent choice to capture bass bass or bass amps. Many engineers consider the U 47 FET as the microphone of choice to go into a big box.

A versatile micro

In addition to all these last points, the U 47 FET will enhance your voice sockets, specifically for voice type screenmer or crooner, thanks to the subtle accent in the upper medium, to add presence in the mix.

A pivot mounted in the microphone body allows it to be used in several positions. The pad and low-cut switches are accessible at the back of the microphone. An additional switch next to the XLR base reduces the output level when connecting to a preamp with a low headroom.
