A deserved success
The TLM 103 quickly became one of the biggest successes in brand history. Heir of the classic U87, and equipped with a large membrane capacitor capsule derived from its capsule, it offers a clear sound like rock water.
This transformer-free cardioid microphone has a slight increase in presence for an incredibly accurate sound, with breathtaking definition and ultra-low noise.
An affordable legacy... but not that
Introduced in 1997 as an affordable alternative to venerable U 87, TLM 103 has since become a modern classic in its own right.
Indeed, the frequency response of this microphone brings a clearer touch to the sound intake, thanks to a wide improvement of presence for frequencies above 5 kHz. Its very discreet yet refined rendering is perfect for solo voices and instruments that come out of the mix effortlessly.
Capture Music
The TLM 103 has established new technical performance standards. First designed for studio projects or for broadcast applications, it has become a more modern sound and an alternative to U 87, especially for sounding voices, percussion, guitar amps and piano.
The TLM 103 is also often used as a sound microphone in classical recording, especially with cello and double bass.
