...and everywhere! The TLM 170 R is a universal microphone, even in the most demanding recording situations. Combining technical excellence and flexibility of a wide membrane capsule, it offers a uniform response in the five directions available to it.
On a large dynamic range, it offers a very linear frequency response, both in axis and off axis, in each of its directivities.
A natural sound
The TLM 170 R can accurately transcribe each source, including ambient sounds, without giving its own soundprint and without adding colour.
This microphone is an excellent choice for orchestral recordings and can also be used both as a main microphone and as a micro spot. It will also suit perfectly for singing and speech, capturing the human voice in its natural beauty.
A precise transcript
The K89 capsule it has provides a high linearity for all parameters: Regular frequency response, rapid transients and polar diagrams independent of the same frequency.
This microphone was designed with the idea of obtaining a very high resolution. As early as 1983, it reached a dynamic range of 130 dB. It was the first microphone to use Neumann's fet 100 technology.
