DPA 4060-OP-C-B90 – Miniature Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone, Normal SPL
The DPA 4060-OP-C-B90 is a miniature omnidirectional lavalier microphone from the 4060 CORE+ series, designed to deliver exceptional audio quality with consistent and uniform performance across DPA microphones, while remaining extremely durable and reliable. Its ultra-compact size ensures discreet placement and seamless integration for theatre, broadcast, film and live production.
The 4060 Series includes miniature omnidirectional microphones (4060, 4061, 4062, 4063 and 4071), each tailored to specific applications based on sensitivity, voltage and mounting needs. All models are based on the original 4060 — the first miniature microphone developed by DPA, using technology initially reserved for hearing aids and measurement microphones, ensuring outstanding sensitivity, dynamics and accuracy.
Built to withstand the most demanding conditions, these microphones feature a 5.4 mm pre-polarized condenser capsule with a vertical diaphragm, as well as a dual-diaphragm protection system that provides excellent resistance to humidity, sweat and harsh environments. The Kevlar-reinforced cable withstands constant bending, twisting and pulling typical of intense professional use.
Two interchangeable grids allow you to tailor the acoustic response: the pre-installed Soft Boost grid adds a gentle +3 dB boost between 8–20 kHz for natural sound when mounted on the head or for close-miking instruments; the High Boost grid adds +10 dB at 12 kHz, ideal when the microphone is chest-mounted or when extra presence is needed. Both stainless-steel anodized grids are removable for cleaning and maintenance.
Despite its tiny size, the 4060 CORE+ Normal SPL is a highly versatile microphone. Its extremely precise omnidirectional pattern does not require exact positioning toward the sound source, while also minimizing handling noise, plosives and wind artifacts.
Originally designed for wireless theatre applications, it has become one of the world’s most trusted microphones for broadcast and film, highly regarded for capturing speech with all its nuances and for close-miking a wide variety of instruments. It handles sound pressure levels up to 144 dB SPL before clipping, ensuring an excellent balance between signal and noise — even when the source is more distant or attenuated.
