The DPA 4060-OP-C-C90 is a miniature omnidirectional lavalier microphone from the 4060 CORE+ series, engineered to deliver exceptional audio quality with uniform and consistent performance across all DPA microphones, while offering outstanding robustness and long-term reliability. Its extremely compact size ensures maximum discretion, making it ideal for theatre, broadcast, film production and live performance.
The 4060 Series includes miniature omnidirectional microphones (4060, 4061, 4062, 4063 and 4071), each optimized for specific applications depending on sensitivity, voltage requirements and mounting needs. All models are based on the original 4060 — DPA’s first miniature microphone developed from technologies originally used in hearing aids and measurement microphones — ensuring excellent sensitivity, dynamic performance and sonic precision.
Designed to withstand the harshest environments, these microphones feature a 5.4 mm pre-polarized condenser capsule with vertical diaphragm and a dual-diaphragm protection system that offers exceptional resistance to moisture and perspiration. The Kevlar-reinforced cable is engineered to endure daily twisting, pulling and bending typical in demanding professional applications.
The acoustic response can be adapted using the two included grids: the Soft Boost grid (pre-installed) provides a subtle +3 dB lift from 8–20 kHz for natural sound when mounted on the head or for close-miking instruments, while the High Boost grid adds +10 dB around 12 kHz, recommended for chest placement or applications requiring enhanced presence in the high frequencies. Both stainless-steel anodized grids can be removed for cleaning or maintenance.
Despite its miniature size, the 4060 CORE+ Normal SPL offers remarkable versatility. Its highly precise omnidirectional pattern does not require directional placement toward the source and significantly reduces handling noise, plosives and wind artifacts.
Originally developed for wireless theatrical use, this microphone has become one of the most widely trusted models for broadcast and cinema worldwide, particularly renowned for capturing speech with exceptional detail and nuance. It is also suitable for close-miking a variety of acoustic instruments. Supporting up to 144 dB SPL before clipping, it provides an excellent balance between signal and noise, even when the sound source is more distant or attenuated.
