AT2031 – A precise, musical and incredibly versatile electret instrument microphone

The AT2031 is a cardioid electret condenser microphone designed for the capture of acoustic instruments, both in the studio and on stage. Its permanently polarized capsule delivers a wide and natural frequency response, with a slight high-end lift that enhances detail in strings and transients.

Thanks to its low self-noise and high SPL handling, the AT2031 offers an extended dynamic range suited equally well to delicate sources (pianissimo) and percussive instruments. Compact in size (134 mm), it surprises with its refined sound and high level of detail, faithful to the Audio-Technica sonic signature.

In the studio, it is an excellent choice for recording violin, cello, acoustic guitar, piano, or as a spot microphone for drums and orchestral ensembles. On stage, its robust metal construction and affordable price make it a reliable tool for percussions, hi-hat, overheads and acoustic guitars.

The AT2031 includes a gentle low-cut filter (150 Hz, 6 dB/oct), allowing precise control of unwanted low frequencies while maintaining a natural sound. Its star-shaped metal grille, featuring quadruple slots, offers efficient protection while ensuring accurate directivity.

Ideal for affordable yet high-quality stereo recordings, the AT2031 can be used as a strong performer in ORTF or X/Y configurations. Supplied with a AT8405a clip, a windscreen and a protective pouch, it is ready for use straight out of the box.
