Transparent and faithful
Today, many microphones are designed to bring their own color to sound capture, but many applications require a faithful reproduction of the source without adding or removing elements. That's why the 180 series came in.
KM 183 is a static micro with a small membrane with omnidirectional directivity independent of frequency. Known for its naturality, transparency, low noise and ability to manage high acoustic pressures, it is now a standard for many applications, from classic to metal-type batteries.
All
The KM 183 offers all the technical prowess of Neumann engineering. Its omnidirectional diagram is uniform and independent of the frequency captured. In practical use, it does not provide any unwanted coloring in a large sound angle, which is essential in multichannel, stereo or surround applications.
The KM 183 transducer exhibits a very flat frequency response in the diffuse field, with a slight boost of 7-10 kHz near the source. It offers a clean noise of only 13 dB-A and manages up to 140 dB of acoustic pressure.
Versatile
The KM 183 is a reference microphone for studio applications. Its remarkable transparency makes it an ideal choice for capturing acoustic instruments such as piano, percussive instruments, drums, acoustic guitars and other stringed instruments, choirs and orchestral instruments, and any other source that requires sound authenticity and a very faithful transcription.
The design of its transducer also allows it to capture up to the lowest frequencies, making it compatible with an orchestra or church organ. Its small size fits very well in countless configurations.
