Probably the most famous and most used studio microphone in the world. The soft and refined sound it transcribes is as emblematic as its elegant exterior design.

This is the standard microphone for speech and singing. The 3 directivities and its low-cut and pad settings make it flexible for any type of application. U 87 is a legend. Introduced in 1967, he shaped the sound of many musical successes over the past 50 years.

A recipe that works

The U 87 AI is the quintessence of a static microphone with a wide membrane. What distinguishes him particularly is the unique alliance of linearity and character. Although its frequency response in the axis is extremely linear, it demonstrates a certain charism.

This curve allows it to be both versatile in a large number of applications and style, but also immediately recognizable.

A remarkably natural clarity

Technically speaking, U 87 Ai's design was timeless and unchanged for decades. He uses the same capacitor capsule design as his predecessor, the famous U 67 of the early 1960s. The U 87 Ai uses a FET circuit with a minimum signal path and a symmetrical output per transformer, guaranteeing the maximum integrity and purity of the signal. All this makes U 87 Ai the microphone of choice praised by engineers, singers and musicians.
