The UT Twin87 from United Studio Technologies embodies the ultimate outcome of the "87-style" microphone. For the first time, a single microphone is capable of reproduce faithfully both the original vintage character and the sound signature of modern versions, without compromise, without emulation and digital artifice.
Long opposite, these two legendary interpretations finally find a definitive answer: The UT Twin87 offers both, in a single microphone. Thanks to a unique design to Double switchable analog circuitIt instantly switches between two separate electronic topologies, separated by nearly fifty years of technological evolution.
Thought The reference voice microphone, UT Twin87 excels both lead and acoustic instruments, amplifiers, ensembles, and all critical outlets requiring precision, musicality and depth.
Double vintage / modern circuit - two microphones in one
The UT Twin87 is not content with a simple filtering or an EQ correction: it integrates two circuits "87-style" totally independent, each faithfully reproduced from carefully measured and analyzed reference microphones.
In vintage modeThe capsule is polarized directly by the ghost tension, as on the very first historical models. The choices of high impedance and disappreciation components are strictly consistent with those of the first generations, providing rendering Warmer, softer and more indulgent, with an organic and natural musicality.
In Modern fashionThe capsule is polarized at a higher tension via an FET oscillator circuit, like more recent revisions. The signal wins at level, clarity and definition, with an answer Brilliant, more articulated and more frontal, ideal for contemporary productions.
UNITED CAPSULE UT-K87 Customized
The UT Twin87 is equipped with a UNITED CAPSULE UT-K87 Exclusive, type K87, to Double diaphragm and double backplate isolated. Machined with precision in massive brass, it uses a Japanese diaphragm in PET (mylar) of 6 microns sputtered gold 24k.
The capsule assembly is made in whiteensuring perfect regularity and long-term stability. In vintage mode, each backplate is polarized separately by the ghost voltage. In modern mode, backplates are connected and the voltage is gradually high up to about 63 V, providing increased sensitivity and an extended response.
UNITED TRANSFORMER OVERDIMENZED AND ELECTRONIC UNOFFICIAL
United has developed for UT Twin87 a Custom output transformer, wound in the United States, integrating Nearly four times the metallic mass Transformers usually used on "87-style" microphones. This choice guarantees a deep deep, an exceptional headroom reserve and a three-dimensional restitution, without any compression of the low frequencies.
Constructed from Massive nickel laminationsThis transformer ensures total transparency throughout the bandwidth, even on long cable lengths. Internal electronics uses a rigorous selection of premium components: polystyrene capacitors, tantalum, multilayer ceramic, Wima film, metal and carbon resistors, and hand-paid transistors.
UT Twin87 also integrates a RF / EM Switchable Filter, allowing to neutralize interference without altering the sound character. In cardioid mode, a Modification "True-Cardioid" is automatically enabled, improving the signal / noise ratio and offering a purer and more direct response.
